GingerCurls http://gingercurls.thecomicseries.com A fun little journal comic created in my spare time that involves my dreams, doodles, and thoughts on life. Note: Most of my life takes place in bed. Last night my whole house was shaking due to the wind and rain. Since it’s such an old building the slightest draft will cause the windows to creak, and since last night was like a monsoon you can only imagine the noise that went on.
It was loud enough to wake me up after a crazy dream. I seem to have a lot of dreams about tornadoes, and I’m not really sure why…time to get a dream dictionary, I guess. So, yeah, the fourth panel, sorry, it looks a little naughty but it’s not supposed to–what other way can you have two people crammed into a bathtub?! We are clothed, too, so get your mind out of the gutter, though I will admit mine was there first.
–Can you tell I had a bit too much fun with sound effects??
Anyhoo, the reason I have been terrible at updating this thing is because I’m student teaching–I’m slightly surprised that I was able to actually do something productive today but I needed to draw and I need to draw more often because it’s a wonderful stress relief. A nice relief to the stress that teaching is very capable of. I only have about 5 weeks left at this placement and it’s kind of sad because I basically have only 5 classes more with these kids and they are all pretty great kids (most of them, heh heh heh). SO yeah, that has taken a big chunk out of my time but I’m OK with that since well, I need to graduate.
Also, wedding bells! Paul and I have set the date but we haven’t really made an OFFICIAL announcement. We will soon enough, yes we will. We have the church, the reception hall and the DJ. So slowly but surely things are starting to get done! ]]>

I find this is very true. If I have a crazy dream and I want to remember it I try my best to backtrack and go through the whole dream in my head that way I’ll be able to recall the little details. If I get up right away the dreams kind of trickle out of my head and they are gone (at least until some random event sparks my memory). Sometimes I have to get up right away, especially if I’m late, so a lot of dreams are lost in the process. I remembered a dream I had at least 10 years ago a few nights ago, not sure what triggered it but it was pretty bizarre.
This comic was inspired by a comment I left on my dA in response to Roxy.
So we have my advice to you all who have trouble remembering dreams is this: lay in bed for as long as you can recalling, but whatever you do, don’t sit up, it will all leak out!]]>

Hey guys, it's been awhile, I know!

Here's some info on this comic: I went to the city with my mom, my sister, her boyfriend and my boyfriend, for my mom’s birthday. Our first stop off the path was ground zero, which I actually have never seen. Soon after we made our way to Strawberry Fields and the Dakota building. It was absolutely heart wrenching, there were people all around putting down flowers and taking pictures, not to mention singing. The man in the comic was explaining to his wife who John Lennon was and he started singing. The whole moment was really quite surreal and I just kept snapping pictures. Unfortunately I don’t have the cord for my camera so those pictures will be on my camera for a while.
It was beautiful. When we left we had to go to the subway entrance which was right by the Dakota building where John lived and was killed. I had to extend my hand and touch the building as we went down. Damn, that man did such great things, I can only imagine what more he could have done if his life wasn’t ripped away. :[
So, big things are happening, well, they are in the midst of happening. While things are taking my time away from doing these comics and positively Fourth Street, I can't be more thrilled. I can't disclose really much of what is going on, but I am working on a graphic novel. I'll make an official notice on Positively Fourth Street that updates will be sporadic from here on in, if not scarce. But between school and this big project, I'd rather devote my time to the bigger project that PFS, simply because I know it's always going to be there, it's one of those comics I keep coming back to. There will be more updates on THIS comic than PFS, so don't fret, but I kind of have to sort out my priorities, and while PFS is up there, I want to see what else I can do (I mean, it's four years in the making and there are still some points that are not completely solid, I gotta work on that...)
ANYWAY, that's enough of that rant!! I'll let you all know the progress of the big project as it unfolds, currently, I'm scripting and thumbnailing. Weeee. Thanks you guys, you're the best!!! <3]]>

Road to Nowhere http://gingercurls.thecomicseries.com/comics/14962
Something new! This is actually more or less my style for my regular serial comics.

Anyway, finished reading Lucy Knisley’s French Milk, much anticipated after I read Radiator Days. If you haven’t picked up her work I highly suggest you do, lest I smack you around a little.
So anyway, yeah, we’re pretty much the same age, and while I’m reading it I can’t help but think “Oh my god, I’ve never even been out of the country, let alone the east coast.” Pauly was playing his Xbox, partaking in a game of UNO, as you can see. This book made me want to pack up my bags right away and go to Paris to eat some yummy food, go the Louvre, eat some yummy food. Oh? I already mentioned that? Whoops.
Anyway, awesome book, definitely made me want to draw. I adore my brush pen, so portable and easy and leaves such juicy lines.

Thanks for reading :] I appreciate it.]]>

They say dreams about teeth are the most common? I don’t know but I’ve had my share of them. Most of them consist of me still having braces or pulling out my teeth strung in a line. Oddly enough, the last dream dealing with the vampire business, I wasn’t sucking any blood, most of it was coming out of my mouth. I think it’s more of a reference to when I was young and I had two teeth that were being pushed upward because I had too many teeth in my mouth, so them being so prominent, I looked like a vampire. It made dressing up for halloween a snap.
Who else has had dreams about teeth? Maybe they aren’t as common as they say.
Also, anyone who knows what the name of this post is from gets an A+ in my book.
I haven’t been updating as often as I would like, but unfortunately I haven’t really had any dreams to record, or ones that I can at least remember, so that’s why it’s been a little slow around here.

Thanks for readin'! :]]]>

This...I think is the last comic done in black and white.

It was a weird dream but boy did it feel to good to whack that boy upside his head. Trust me, he deserved it.

I just finished my first day of pre-student teaching, it was only 3 hours, but boy am I tired. Doesn't help that I didn't sleep that well last night, either....

And I just spaced out for like 10 minutes, maybe I should take a nap?

Anyway, thanks for reading :] ]]>

Blast from the Past #3 http://gingercurls.thecomicseries.com/comics/12625
Another oldie!

This one is slowly but surely getting closer to my original intent. I believe there is one or two more of the older strips. I hope they aren't too boring ^^; I'm also working on another comic! Right here on ComicFury!! :] It's called Positively Fourth Street, it's about love, music, and the city life. It's more of a story, and less a retelling of my life happenings. I hope you'll check it out.
